Understand DisclosureOS

A fuller record.
A clearer path through it.

DisclosureOS is an open standard for describing unidentified anomalous phenomena. It gives researchers a shared way to preserve observations, connect source material and explain their interpretations.

The Meridian showcase shows one experience built with it. The standard describes the records underneath, so other people can examine them and build their own tools.

Keep the original observation

Start with what was recorded: readings, accounts, documents or physical samples. Preserve their sources and the information that is still missing.

Connect each part to its context

A number needs units and an instrument. A quotation needs a source and an author. A laboratory result needs the exact sample that was tested.

The parts of the standard

Six parts, working together.

Records and instruments describe the material being examined. Observables and origins provide ways to describe reported characteristics and possible explanations. Claims attribute those assessments; scoring makes the chosen evaluation method explicit.

A well-structured record makes analysis easier to inspect. It does not establish that a report is accurate, that two observations share a cause or that an explanation is correct. Sources, uncertainty and the reasoning behind a conclusion remain essential.
